As in September, it remains important to honor what our intuition and our sensory perceptions tell us. Pay attention to your well-being and use your intuition to maintain harmonious relationships with others, while not giving yourself away. You may find yourself inquiring which values are important for you in relating.
Change comes in the middle of the month and solidifies after the 20th. Now there is a chance to recommence something you have been wanting to do for a long time and enjoy some early fruits of your labor. First beginnings are not always easy, but we all have time – and energy – until February 2019 to establish some firm roots. Keep the overview at times when you feel under pressure!
October sees three outer planets- Saturn, Uranus and Pluto – make channels with personal ones. Saturn, planet of structure, in Gate 10, Behavior, makes us look how we as individuals relate to society. It may help us to find smart ways to express our uniqueness in the world, or let us face the consequences when we get too identified with our roles (it activates Channel 10-57, Survival, from Oct 1-3 with Mercury and from Oct 8-13 with the Sun).
From Oct 21 until Feb 19, 2019, Uranus forms the Channel of Mutation (3-60) with the South Moon Node. More about that below. In between Pluto activates the Channel of Transformation (32-54) two times: first with Mercury and then with the Sun. In Gate 54.4 Pluto represents evolution: transformation happens as it will. We can either fight it or remember that change is the only constant quality in life.
Each year, the Sun goes through the area of the Spleen gates in October, this time joined by Venus, which seemingly cannot get enough Spleen energy. Just as she was about to leave these Gates, she turns retrograde! With the planet moving backwards the fearful side of the Spleen may come up, in this case fears that the past could overwhelm us, the fear of death, which can lead to foolhardy behavior, and at the end of the month some fear to stand for your truth – although from Oct 28-30 Earth supports us there (Channel of Preservation 27-50). Remember your grounding, probably you speak out for the welfare of your community. In general, Venus retrograde indicates a time of emotional harvesting: what was good the last nine months, what did not feel right? You may want space for yourself to explore that, looking at feelings rather than diving deep into them (of course, each individual chart responds in a different way to the passing planets, here I describe the general climate). With the exception of Mars in the last days of the month (will we see men get emotional?), no Gates in the Emotional Center are activated.
The middle of the month brings change: with Pluto’s transformational energy in the background, no less than four ‘slow’ planets move into new Gates. On the 14th, Jupiter goes into Gate 14, Prosperity, followed by a move of Saturn into 58, Joyous Aliveness, on the 17th, with the Moon Nodes changing gates on Oct 21. The North and South Moon Node stay in each pair of opposing Gates for a few months and they have a way of bringing unconscious spots into the light. Now they are in Gates 56, the Traveler, and 60, Limitation, and you can see the polarity of wanting space to move and facing restriction. The South Node enters into the aforementioned Channel of Mutation now, which will define the Root and Sacral Centers for the next months. The Root calls for action, whereas the Sacral Center provides sustainable life energy. Everyone can get things done in this time, while Venus and the Sun in the Spleen can remind us to relax and enjoy life.
Lastly, from Oct 8-13, the Earth and Chiron, planet of healing, activate Channel 25-51, Initiation. A drastic event may wake us up to the fact how precious the planet is. Let us hope we get the message.
