‘Moving steadily forward in a sea of emotions’ is the catchphrase of the month.
All planets continue to move direct in February and what is more, the bigger planets pass faster than usual through our skies. The relative orbits of the Earth and these planets make this happen; their actual speed is more or less constant. We call these big planets – Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, as well as Pluto and Chiron, which are small but have a special influence on us – the social and transpersonal planets. They affect deeper and often less conscious layers in us, which are collective in nature. Their movement, into higher Lines of the Hexagrams in which are they currently positioned, creates a gradual change in atmosphere, like the colors in the sky at sunrise. Taken together, they further more overview, maturity, and a sense of responsibility in our lives.
After some months of exploring in which direction we want to go, it is time now to walk the path, facing the challenges that each step brings.
From the personal planets, which indicate how we go through daily life, the Sun, Mercury and Venus all stand a major part of the month in Gates of the Emotional Center, activating our feeling world. However, no planets are in Gates of the Throat Center this month, meaning that it can be wise to experience these feelings rather than base our actions on them.
A juicy time
From Feb 2-19 and after the 24th Venus passes through emotional Gates. The Sun does the same from the 8th to the end of the month, and Mercury on Feb 12-23 and Feb 27-28. The Emotional Center stands for feelings, desires, moods and obsessions, as well as grace and a spirited way of life. Do not be surprised when waves of feeling wash over you; remembering that they will pass helps to enjoy them. Essentially, emotions are an expression of Spirit, and allowing them without judgment widens our consciousness. Some highlights:
- From 15-20 Feb Mercury is conjunct with the Sun, enabling us to express our desires and deep feelings.
- From 20-24 Feb Venus is in Gate 63 with Neptune, giving the opportunity to experience deep, even mystical love – or to escape in daydreams and rationalization.
- Mercury and Venus meet twice this month: Feb 5-6 in the Channel of Sensitivity, good for love talk, and Feb 27-28 in the Gate of Grace. Perhaps a good time for some love poetry?
Meanwhile, Saturn has started journeying through Gate 58, Joyous Aliveness. Saturn tests our integrity, often by bringing up the shadow side and seeing if you can face this energy. The core quality of Gate 58 is the joy of being alive, its challenge is to enjoy worldly delights without getting lost in them. What stimuli are beneficial, where does indulgence begin? Saturn has a way of showing the effect of our actions; it can also deepen a joyful experience. The key lies in ourselves.
THE LINES OF THE HEXAGRAMS
Human Design divides the sky in 64 equal parts, which correspond to the Hexagrams from the I Ching. Each Hexagram represents an area of our life experience, which can be further refined by a Line. Six Lines make up a Hexagram: the first Line is at the bottom, and the sixth at the top. The principal qualities of all first, second, third etc. Lines are the same, while their expression differs depending on the Hexagram. For instance, you can see a first Line as someone who just entered that particular area of life, with qualities of wonder, insecurity and the urge to ground oneself. A sixth Line has become an example for others, with natural overview and leadership abilities. It is getting ready for a new field of experience, another Hexagram. We all have a mixture of Lines, and higher does not equal better. In general, the first three Lines are more concerned with their own point of view, whereas Line four, five and six take other people into account.
