Here is a short history of Human Design and the Gene Keys.
In 1987, Ra Uru Hu, then Alan Krakower, received the original transmission of Human Design from what he called “the Voice.” After adjusting to the experience, he looked for ways to share what he had received. Collaborating with other people was not always easy. Finally, in 1992, he settled on the model of a school, which licenses the people it has trained and protects the knowledge. As a consequence, anyone who learns and practices Human Design outside the model is branded a charlatan.
In earlier years, however, Ra had trained and collaborated with a circle of early Human Design enthusiasts. The system had been given to Ra, but the Voice had not detailed how to apply it. The circle contributed to this part of the work. At the end of this period, Ra declared that the knowledge was not his, that the people of the circle had graduated, and that they were ready to go out and spread Human Design in the world. My teacher, Chetan Parkyn, was part of this circle. He wrote the first Human Design book for the general public, Human Design for Us All, published in 2009.
Richard Rudd received a Human Design reading from Chetan and went on to create the English section of Ra’s Human Design School. He wrote several excellent books on the system, which are now republished. Gradually, he realized that the rational, left-brain approach of Human Design limited the intuitive understanding that was an intrinsic part of his inner journey. He and Ra parted ways amicably. In 2009, the Gene Keys book was published, followed by many more. A spirited community has gathered around the teachings and cooperates in bringing them to the world.

Shantamo Kamstra was certified by Chetan as a Human Design Reader in 2013. Since then, he has been giving sessions and has developed his own style of teaching. The Gene Keys came into his life in 2014. As his involvement deepened, his connection with the transmission and the community around it grew stronger. He is now a Gene Keys Ambassador, which enables him to introduce the Gene Keys to a wider audience by giving sessions and conducting courses. His 30+ years of meditation and the contemplation method of the Gene Keys blend within him, changing his work from the inside out. In the end, though forms may differ, the transmission is one.
